Open Learning Exchange works with our nation-based partners to ensure that everyone, especially girls and young women, living in poverty and disruption, master the specific knowledge and skills they need to thrive. We are making this possible with innovative, open information technologies as a tool for supporting Community Learning Centers that provide access to personal learning that is team-supported and connected with others around the world. This approach solves three critical challenges in education, especially in low-resource settings: lack of good learning resources, lack of effective teachers, and isolation––lack of ways to enrich learning by connecting globally. Job Description
Open Learning Exchange is looking for an enthusiastic and organized digital librarian intern. This is a “hands on” unpaid internship opportunity set to begin early September 2017 until mid-December 2018. In this position, you will be responsible for researching, identifying and curating an extensive list of open source learning material and tailoring it to fit the needs of the organization and our international partners, as well as developing a clear and concise record of the resources in our digital library.
Job Requirements
- Candidates must be able to work at least 15 hours a week;
- College junior, seniors or recent graduates pursuing a degree in library sciences is preferred;
- A strong background in computers/technology and non-print materials formats;
- Familiarity with digital collections development software;
- Proven research skills;
- Detail oriented and organized;
- Motivated self-starter; and
- This internship can be taken for college credit
