Technology can be a supplement, but not a substitute, for active, meaningful and collaborative learning.
Strong, irrationally committed, entrepreneurial leadership is required for a nation to transform an insufficient education system into a quality learning system for all of its citizens to thrive.
While only the public sector can ensure that everyone has that opportunity, private sector organizations can be important engines for change.
Thus in each country where OLE works, we identify, or help establish, an independent nation-based organization that will adapt OLE’s personal learning framework to their national conditions. We then work with them as they demonstrate and document significant improvements in learning and persuade their governments to scale those approaches to their entire population at a sustainable cost. With everyone, OLE emphasizes the importance of distributed and transparent leadership: among students, parents, teachers and administrators, throughout their community, and in their governments at the district, regional and national levels.
